Tall & Rich

A Yanqui’s View of Latin American Politics

About

This is a companion blog to my wildly successful blog This Ain’t Hell. Unfortunately, I have more interest in Latin America than many of my readers over there, so I decided to start a new blog rather than clutter up the other one.

Why the title Tall and Rich? Well, one of my friends asked me once what I like so much about Latin America. After a moment’s thought, I answered that down south I can be the two things I’ll never be in the United States - tall and rich.

I’ve imported many of the related posts and comments from This Ain’t Hell - so if you’ve got a trackback and you’re wondering how a post from two years ago hit your blog - that’s how. Actually, I’m pretty proud of myself for accomplishing that minor feat.

Also this Juan Lirio fellow who posts here is me - I just translated my given Swedish name into Spanish.

So happy to see an interest in Latin & Central America from a conservative viewpoint. I just found the “This Ain’t Hell” a few weeks ago and now this site. We’ll be checking in often.

“A Panamanian friend of mine once asked me why I liked Central America so much. I answered that only in Latin America can I be tall and rich”

I don’t know about rich, but one can make a dollar go a lot further down here.
If you haven’t been down to see your Panamanian friends lately,it’s changed in many ways since my 1970s duty tour. But it’s still one of the greatest places to be. Hope “Tall and Rich” does well and that some day you’ll get to do an on/location blog from here.

Thanks for the welcome, pagar. Actually there are a few conservative bloggers with a Latin American interest. They’re relatively few, though.

We go back to Panama every year, and you’re right, it has changed - alot.

Let us know when you’ll be here and maybe we could get together for a cup of coffee.

Every Dia de Muertos we’re there for the week.

Good Lord willing, we’ll be here.

I’d like that. There are some videos of Panama on my YouTube channel that I’ve taken the last two years on Dia de Patria.
